From early childhood, he was always drawn to music and it has become a lifelong passion for him. Coming from a family that was not well to do, he had to make do with what he could lay his hands on. Not being able to afford a guitar, he used the one belonging to the school. A radio was a novelty that he could only dream of owning so the only time he got to listen to one was when he would go over to the houses of his wealthier friends. While pursuing his music career he has worked as a daily wager by cleaning cars in gas stations and odd jobs at building sites in Calcutta.

He started his music career in 1965 at Calcutta Park Street famous night spots “Moulin Rouge” and “Trincas” as a performing artist. Lou Majaw never gave up on his passion and has through the years emerged as one of the most prominent figures in music from the North Eastern part of India.  In fact, he has made it his quest to bring the music of his main source of inspiration Bob Dylan to the present generation. The road he has traveled through the years has been nothing short of amazing. He has truly lived the rock and roll way of life and continues to do so till date.

“When life becomes too real, take a little time to dream.” – Lou Majaw
